'Spreading the news around the world' - Nothing
Mute Records has provided DM.com with a press release considering "Playing
The Angel" with some fresh news: new songtitles ("The Darkest
Star" for instance, song descriptions ("... like trip-hop from
hell"), the titles of Dave's three songs ("I Want It All",
"Suffer Well" and "Nothing's Impossible") and quotes
(Dave: It's better being in Depeche Mode now than it has been for 15 years.")
A further note: The first "Precious" remix done by DJ Sasha
premiered at BBC Radio 1.

Intensional or not, last night Q film, the copany behind the promo clip of "Precious", offered fans access to the raw shot of the "Precious" video. All the animation is left out, just storyboard drawings give the viewer an idea how the finished product will look like. Of course, the video has been taken offline a few hours later, but, the damage is done ;-). Sources: Empty World 3

Journalists had the opportunity to listen to selected songs of DM's new album "Playing The Angel" at Mute in London. I purposely do not mention the reaction to the album, I just mention the facts: The first single is going to be "Precious" which will be released two weeks prior to the album which is set to be released on October 17th. Seven songs were presented: "Precious", "The Sinner In Me", "Suffer Well", "Macrovision", "John The Revelator", "I Want It All" (penned by Dave) & "A Pain That I'm Used To". The album will be be finished this week, three or four more songs might be included. Sources: DepecheMode.com, Empty World 3 Forum (Noah), Intro.de

One day after the guys at Empty World 3 pointed out that DM will play at Paris on February 21st, 2006 a further date can be added. Depeche Mode are set to appear at the German festivals Rock am Ring and Rock am Park (June 2nd-June 4th 2006)! This indicates a more extensive tour than expected. As far as you know by now, DM are going to tour in the US in the last months of 2005 and start their European leg in February 2006. Festival appearances or more exotic tour dates after that have never been rumoured before. Yesterday the German paper "Duesseldorfer Express" announced that DM will play at the LTU Arena in Duesseldorf (Maximum capacity of 65,000) on January 31st, 2006(incorrect date). Also, dates in Rotterdam & Katowice have surfaced. Martin is not going to appear at the Traffic Free Festival in Torino. Sources: Empty World 3, Bercy, DepecheMode.com

This is the first
time since the recording of "Songs Of Faith And Devotion" (in
1992) that a TV crew is following the process of making a DM album.
German film production company Q Film joins forces with Uwe Flade, who
is the director of the "Enjoy The Silence 04" video, to make
this project which is called "Depeche Mode - Making of the New
Album" happen.
A sidenote: Gwen Stefani plans to release a follow-up to her her solo
debut album “Love, Angel, Music, Baby”; maybe the song "Wonderful
Life for Him" which features M.L. Gore's guitar skills will end up
on that album. Sources: Empty

Long-time Depeche Mode collaborators Gareth Jones and Anton Corbijn have made their impressions about DM's working process public. And that had the gentlemen to say:
"Paid my respects to Depeche Mode & Ben Hillier in Santa Barbara Sound Design . Very impressed by my sneak preview." - Gareth Jones
"...in california i worked again with DEPECHE MODE who are recording a new album and i am very excited by the sounds i heard and by the contactsheets i am just looking at. ..." - Anton Corbijn
Gareth's homepage provides some rather obscure pics from the
recording session.
According to rumours a working title for possibly the first single is

As promised the design of the site was totally changed. I hope you don't mind that the black background has disappeared but I am certain that it wil return at some point because black is the coolest. Although it is hard to recognize, the layout was inspired by newspapers...
At the same time I am not too keen to change the layout again anytime soon, it is time to deliver some new content...

Interesting activities within the DM camp. As it seems, DM have already been in the studio but after disagreements between Gahan & Gore it was decided to go on next year. It also seems that DM have not decided on the producer role. Just to make it a bit more irritating, DM have contacted crew people from recent tours to be ready for a DM tour in September 2005. According to a post at the Madonna fan forum DrownedMadonna.com, Martin was given two demos for Madonna's new album during her "Re-Invention Tour". It is not known at the moment if Martin is going to produce these two songs or the whole album or nothing. This is possibly just a rumour. Source: DrownedMadonna.com.
