What is SOTA?

SOTA is the abbriviation of Summits On The Air.
The SOTA-programme ist is like the IOTA(Islands On The Air)-programme, but it doesn't avtivates Islands but Summits of the World.

The main thing is to do radio contacts from and to Summits and that the equipment used on the summit is carried by man power to the summit.
A second point is that you may not use and fosile powered generators.
To start operation from the summit you cann start with a portable radio for 2m and/or 70cm.
