History:

Hephaistos is the one of the many children of Zeus & Hera, father & mother of the Zodiac Dragon Clan. Ever since his birth he was told to be a bit of the black sheep of the family, for he doesn't really posess any of the classic trademarks a demon father would wish for his child to have! As a child he once took his mother's side, when his parents argued, which coursed his father to get furious on the child, grabbing his son at the ankle & tossing him down from the Heavenly Temple of the dragons, Hephaistos landing on earth, just to be found my two nymphs, who were kind enough to take the child under their wings, as well as mending his wounds.

When he was healthy again, he returned to the Heavenly Temple, the Olymp, however, a bit of a limp always stayed. His father, however, felt sorry for what he had done to his son in his fury & so, promised him to give the beautyful Aphrodite for his wife. The two of them being married at a very young age, both still mostly children themselves. Being a creature of love, Aphrodite also isn't too strict when it comes to her own faithfulness to her husband & so, it's a well-known secret to all dragons, that Aphrodite has many lovers besides Hephaistos, especially his handsome & sportive brother, Ares.

As an adult Hephaistos still doesn't own the very best of reputation within his family, they sure respect him for his incredible skills as a blacksmith, but the same time he still is told to be not of much other worth, they see him as ugly & of not much charisma.

Ever since the humans can think, the dragons are guarding them, having an eternal packt with an ancient, buddhist sect, who fight away the demons which pester & terrorize other creatures, both human or non-human nature! In every human generation a priest is assigned a dragon, the pair of them then staying together for the rest of the priest's mortal life, however, not all dragons always get a priest & especially Hephaistos rarely is chosen to actually guard.

However, as his father still is somewhat dissapointed with his son, who seems to be good for nothing else, but being a blacksmith, he decides for him to be a guard of the next generation & so, he's asigned to the young priestress, Fumiko, which both aren't very happy about, at first, becourse, to say the least, their personalities hardly could be more different! They're ment for eachother, though & so have to get along, which they also slowly learn to do, eventhough it costs them quite some adventures to fully realice the qualities of the other!

Personality:

Always being told to be somewhat of a failture wasn't very helpful for Hephaistos personal development! He's very shy & a dragon of little words, always seeming to feel a bit uncomfortable about most situations. He's quite a bit chubby by nature & also tends to try to swallow down frustrations or other uncomfortable feelings, by simply looking for the comfort he never really found within his family in food! He's also a bit of a stiff personality, sometimes seeming a bit odd in his actions, especially at first sight. He mainly is also quite unsatisfied with himself, not really knowing what to make out of his existance, since all the other dragons seem to be far more talented, skilled, witty, charismatic, beautyful & what not, while he seems to lack, well, everything!

The same time, however, he's a very sweet & caring person, eventhough, he hardly seems to dare to show this! He's of an almost scariely patient nature, hardly anything being able to really get him to lose his temper, as well as he really doesn't like physical fights, in fact, he doesn't like any fights at all, he'd actually prefer to simply turn around & leave, to the next kitchen, whenever some confrontation occurs, which he also often does, even if it's just a dicussion of an uncomfortable matter!

His wife & he're connected by a somewhat tricky relationship, both of them having a great liking for eachother, yet, it seems non of them really is what the other is exactly looking for or perhaps, they just don't really want to realice it?!

The only place he really feels at home is his forge, where he forged many powerful weapons & other objects for his family & others. He's an incredibly skilled blacksmith, who managed to bring a piece of metal to life & make it to just what it's new owner was looking for!
